Security & Website Handover Policy

Introduction

Binge Island is committed to delivering secure, high-quality websites while ensuring a smooth transition to clients upon project completion. This policy outlines our approach to website security during development and the procedures for handing over completed websites to clients.

Security Measures During Development

We follow industry best practices to secure websites before launch. These measures include:

  • SSL Certificates: Ensuring all websites are set up with SSL encryption for secure data transmission.
  • Secure Hosting Recommendations: Advising clients on reliable hosting providers with strong security measures.
  • User Access Management: Implementing role-based access controls to prevent unauthorised modifications.
  • Plugin & Theme Security: Using reputable plugins and themes with regular updates to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Firewall & Malware Protection: Where applicable, we integrate security plugins or recommend external security services.

Website Handover Process

Once the website is completed, we follow a structured handover process:

Admin Access & Credentials

  • Clients receive administrative login credentials to manage their website.
  • Passwords are shared securely through encrypted communication channels.
  • Clients are encouraged to immediately update their passwords after receiving them.

Website Documentation & Training

  • A walkthrough of essential features and management tools is provided.
  • If applicable, a website management guide is shared to help clients navigate their new site.
  • Training sessions can be arranged at an additional cost.

Final Testing & Approval

  • Clients have a final review period to test the website before the official launch.
  • Any final tweaks or minor adjustments are made as part of the agreed revision process.

Post-Handover Responsibilities

Once the website is handed over, the client assumes full responsibility for its management, updates, and security. This includes:

  • Keeping software, themes, and plugins up to date to prevent security risks.
  • Regularly backing up website data to ensure disaster recovery.
  • Maintaining login credentials and ensuring only authorised personnel have access.
  • Monitoring website performance and security through recommended tools.

If the client requires ongoing support, they can opt for a maintenance plan to receive regular updates and security checks.

Limitations & Liabilities

  • Binge Island is not responsible for security breaches, data loss, or website malfunctions occurring after handover unless the client is enrolled in a website maintenance plan.
  • If the client makes unauthorised modifications that cause issues, additional support may incur extra costs.
  • We do not store client passwords after the handover process is completed.

Support & Assistance

If clients encounter any issues after the handover, they can contact us via our contact form for guidance or to discuss post-launch support options.

Policy Updates
