How to Transfer Your Domain from Shopify to Binge Island

​Transferring your domain from Shopify to Binge Island is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through each step to ensure a smooth transition.

Step 1: Verify Domain Eligibility

Before initiating the transfer:

• Ensure the domain is at least 60 days old. Domains registered or transferred within the last 60 days are not eligible for transfer due to ICANN regulations. (Source: Wikipedia)
• Confirm your contact information is up to date. The email address associated with your domain must be current, as it will receive important transfer notifications.

Step 2: Unlock Your Domain in Shopify

1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
2. Navigate to Settings > Domains.
3. Click on the domain you wish to transfer.
4. In the Domain settings, click Transfer to another provider.
5. Click Confirm to unlock the domain.

Step 3: Obtain the Authorisation Code

After unlocking:

Step 5: Approve the Transfer

After initiating the transfer:

• You’ll receive an email from your current domain registrar (Shopify) requesting approval for the transfer.
• Follow the instructions in the email to approve the transfer.
• The transfer process can take up to 7 days to complete.

• DNS Settings: Before transferring, ensure you have a record of your current DNS settings. Transferring a domain can disrupt your website and email services if DNS settings are not correctly configured post-transfer.
